Interior Sections and Elevations

The difference between Interior Elevations and Sections is that Interior Elevations start at the finished floor elevation and stop at the ceiling. Interior Elevations show individual walls in specific rooms, whereas Sections cut through floors showing multiple rooms stacked on top of each other. An elevation sketch is an orthographic projection—a two-dimensional representation of a three-dimensional space. For interior design, it is a two-dimensional drawing of a wall (or series of walls) with varying degrees of detail. Sections are technical drawings through a vertical slice of a space. The difference from the elevations is that section show two or more adjacent rooms allowing to see the thickness of the walls.
